Are
You Looking for Something?
People
sometimes feel distant from God. They
feel at a loss, are hungering or looking for something that they just
can't quite find. This often
leads to staying away from mass. Most
who return say that being away wasn't any better.
They missed having their weekly visits with God and they came to
recognize that they wanted to stay close God's mystery through scripture,
the sacraments, and being a part of a parish community.
How
Can I Get Closer to God?
When
you were baptized you became a member of Christ's Church for all time.
Feeling distant or being away for a while is not the end of the
world. The bible is full of instances where Jesus showed how happy
God is when someone wants to return.
We
warmly welcome you at St. Madeleine's.
We don't look back to the past, but to how Christ is calling us to
new life, today!
If
there is anything standing in the way of your experiencing the fullness of
God's love, please let us know about it.
Our pastor and staff may be able to resolve it.
We don't think that Jesus wants anything less for you than the full
communion of his friendship.
What
is the First Step?
The
first step is up to you. Some people just walk in to Mass. Others like to talk with someone first. Still others prefer a class or a group. Any of these options is OK.

How
can I get updated about the Catholic Church today?
There
is also information at OnceCatholic.org
including interactive conversations with others considering reconnection
and renewal.
What
if I have a lot of Questions?
At
St. Madeleine Sophie we have a team of parishioners who can walk along
with you. You can meet with them and other seekers on a weekly basis on
Monday evenings.
The
meetings are times of fellowship and fun and also serious discussion and
study. It has been many years
since our childhood classes. So we explore what being Catholic is about
now, from an adult perspective.
We
take time in each meeting to listen to Christ's message as heard in the
scriptures and discuss how the points made in the bible are experienced in
real life.
The
second half of each session is devoted to an aspect of Catholic doctrine
or practice, followed by questions & answers.
Those who attended in previous years said that getting
"updated" on the changes and practices in the Church was one of
their greatest needs. Learn more from excerpts from the book "Why
Do Catholics Do That?"
What
if I'm not Certain?
Some
who attend are not sure about how certain they can be.
There is no pressure. No
one is asked to make a premature commitment.
How
do I get in the class?
Anyone who would like more information may contact Deacon Bill Taube
at the parish, 425-747-6770ext. 103. If you would like an informal appointment to talk about any
questions, just ask.
It's
also OK just come to the first session.
The coffee will be hot and the staff will offer a warm and friendly
welcome.
