Welcome
I am grateful that the people of St. Madeleine Sophie have made it a high priority to create an environment where all people feel welcomed. We want this community to be a place where friendships can grow, gifts can be shared and a sense of family can be experienced. At St. Madeleine's we try to not only accept diversity, but celebrate it. It is believed that in a climate of WELCOME the gospel of Jesus will be lived out more fully.

Below are three ways we try to foster a spirit of welcoming.

Welcoming Weekends

On the third Sunday of every month the community of St. Madeleine Sophie publicly recognizes and welcomes all new parishioners. at the conclusion of each weekend Liturgy our newest members are invited to remain so that Fr. Jim, Deacon Gene and members of our Welcoming Committee" can present them with:

a household Prayer Candle

a comprehensive "Welcoming Packet" of helpful information including a parish handbook

A brief sharing of the history of St. Madeleine Sophie and a tour also takes place at this time.

A Spirit of Hospitality

It is a tradition at St. Madeleine Sophie that every person who enters our doors will be met with a warm smile and a personal greeting. It takes many men, women and children t help provide this ministry on a weekly basis.

Community Events

Twice a year our newest members of St. Madeleine Sophie are invited to a "Welcoming Dinner" held in their honor. These are traditionally "fun" times where good food and conversation are shared. New parishioners can also meet and talk with program/parish leaders. There are also many other intergenerational events planned each year, a picnic, seasonal celebrations, breakfasts, etc. that are wonderful opportunities for parishioners to develop and nurture friendships and share faith.
