Childrens Liturgy of the Word (C.L.O.W.)
The Catholic Mass can be very adult-centered. Providing a "Word" experience that is designed with the developmental and spiritual needs of the elementary-aged child in mind helps to make Mass a positive experience for children. This is how it works: Families come to Mass together. After the opening song and prayer, and before the first reading, children (grades 1st through 6th) are dismissed to the social hall for CLOW. During the "Word" service, only one reading is focused onin most instances the gospel. This is followed by a child-oriented discussion/homily, prayers of the faithful, creed, and songs. Children rejoin their families in the church at the beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. CLOW is offered at both the 8:30 and 11:00 Masses.
