| Faith Formation
Young people are invited to reflect on their relationship with Jesus Christ and their faith community. This includes Catholic FAITH FORMATION sessions (Youth Meetings), Retreat experiences and special events. Each year we offer a Parent/Teen Series, designed for parents and youth to come together and discuss important issues. We offer preparation for the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, for those who may have missed these opportunities earlier in their lives. Those who are age 16 and at least a Junior in High School are invited to prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Separate information is available for this program. Young people are invited to build community and responsible relationships with each other, with the Parish and with the Universal Church. This includes social, recreational, inter–parish (Eastside Parishes), Ecumenical (St. Margaret's Episcopal and Holy Cross Lutheran Youth Groups) and special events. Young people are invited to actively worship in their faith community and develops a personal prayer life. This includes prayer at youth gatherings, special Youth Masses and other Liturgies, All–Parish events, retreat and weekend outing Liturgies and Liturgical ministries. Young people are invited to put Gospel values into action and develop a Catholic social consciousness. This includes faith formation in the area of Catholic Social Teaching, as well as opportunities for service work within the Church and social community. Senior High Youth do service at the St. Mary's Food Bank, Crossroads Meal Program, adopt a family at Christmas, participate in the Advent Giving Tree and elementary Faith Formation programs here at the Parish. Juniors and Seniors can also assist at Junior High retreats and other activities. Junior High Youth provide a Thanksgiving Party at the Crossroads Meal Program, adopt a family at Christmas, prepare holiday packages for incarcerated youth at Echo Glen, and participate in the Advent Giving Tree. They may also assist with our Elementary Faith Formation programs and with childcare. Both Junior and Senior High groups have the opportunity to apply for spaces on the two Mission Weeks that are offered each summer. Participants must be active in the youth Ministry programs or, in the case of incoming seventh graders, active in the Elementary Faith Formation programs to be considered for a space on either Mission Week. An information meeting is held in the winter to acquaint parents and youth with this ministry. –––––––
